Future Possibilities is more than just about me, although I guess a bit about me would be helpful!!

This is a picture of me, taken in 2007 on Boxing Day. Then, as now I was working as a senior advisory teacher for a large learning and behaviour support service. My MA is to do with inclusive educational practices and my B.Ed (Hons) is in Social Studies with a Youth Work subsidiary. My specialism is working with secondary aged students with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. I have worked with this group of students since 1987 and that includes more than five years working in a secure educational setting.

Following on from working in a secure setting I have worked in other off-campus settings - Pupil Referral Units and I now I work in schools. I would add that in my schools I use solution focus approaches when working with the students who are referred to our service and with their teachers and parents, and do so to good effect.

I am the service's Continuing Professional Development  leader; mentor and coach. I am commissioned by CWDC - (Children's Workforce Development Council), TDA - (Teachers Development Agency), B&A Strand - (Behaviour & Attendance Strand) and DCSF - (Department for Children, Schools and Families) to deliver training based around the idea of Behaviour Change.

I always deliver material flexibly and with a solution focus slant. Many government educational policies are informed by solution focus approaches and I include in this things like SEAL - Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning - which colleagues and I are instrumental in leading in schools in our authority.

Schools also frequently ask me to run in-service training, particularly in those schools in which I work regularly.

Additionally I also deliver training to lecturers in FE who are more and more having to work with students from Key Stage 3 as they are placed elsewhere other than school in order to meet their needs.

Recently I was asked by another authority to work in a solution focus way to support a team of people who needed help and support when it came to functioning effectively as a whole.

I have run a number of workshops in solution focus and restorative approaches at national and local conferences in the UK.

Although I am unlikely to be asked to work directly with students in your school or centre, I hold Enhanced CRB  status in relation to working with children as well as Enhanced status in working with vulnerable adults.

I carry £3million pounds of civil liability insurance and I am bound to the ethical frameworks both of the BACP  and the UKASFP, of which I'm a full member.

I am a registered member of the General Teaching Council and a corporate member of NASEN
